Last month we were spoiled for choice when it came to selecting a winning photograph for our photo competition. That was mainly due to the fantastic pictures sent to us by our friends at Moto Historics Ltd during their time taking part in the Tour Auto 2016 race.
Moto Historics Ltd hired Redhill Car & Van Hire vans, which were co-branded with their logo, to accompany them on the journey racing their fabulous historic sports cars through France.
This is the winning picture that we have selected and the guys will have to decide who will enjoy the Meal for Two at the Whyte Harte in Bletchingley!

About the Tour Auto 2016
The Tour Auto is an annual event organized by Peter Auto which brings together around 240 historic, vintage cars to travel and race on circuits throughout France. This year’s event took place between 18th – 23rd April 2016 and marked the 25th anniversary of the Tour.
As is traditional for the Tour, it began with an exhibition of all the cars taking part at the Grand Palais in Paris. This was a spectacular sight and attracted car enthusiasts from all around the world. Rare and beautiful vehicles that took part in the Tour were there, including the Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta, Jaguar MK II 3.8L and Ligier JS2.
Tour Preparations and Route
Preparations for the Tour started long before April and the Moto Historics team hired vans from us which were then co-branded prior to loading and transporting the parts and race equipment that their team would need with them on their travels.
Following the journey across on the ferry with all the participating vehicles, the race route then took the drivers and their teams from Paris through Beaune, Lyon, Valence, Marseille and Cannes in five legs, taking in some beautiful French countryside along their way.
After the exciting first day at the Paris exhibition, the race began with a sunny day in Dijon.
There was then another early start for the racing on Day 2 which began in Beaumarche. Can you spot our van in the background at the start of the race?
Day 3 of the race saw the cars travel from Lyon to Valence and then on to Marseille on Day 4. The van was on hand to assist with a quick road side service after the excitement of the special stage on Day 4.
The picture at the top which won our April photo competition captures that moment!
To celebrate the 25th year of Tour Auto, the event finished with an exciting nighttime rally around the country roads above the Côte d’Azur. After the fun of the Monte Carlo Rally, the team then relaxed on the beach in Cannes on Day 6 before heading home.
The Moto Historics team had a great Tour and were pleased to have our reliable Redhill Car and Van Hire vans with them (all the way there – and all the way back!).
